What the numbers show
MoAfrika FM has the largest Facebook following in the latest counts, about 617,000, which is about 400,000 more than Mapholi FM in second place.
Ultimate Radio, People's Choice FM (PC FM) and Ts'enolo FM are within 3% of each other, so small monthly changes can reorder them. Their places in the ranking should be read as a near tie.
The top three stations hold 58% of the combined Facebook following of the 13 radio stations counted. Readers often follow more than one page, so the combined figure overstates the number of distinct people.
Facebook is the main platform for every station counted.
Data Matrix has published these counts since 13 October 2023. Counts from October 2023 to September 2026 are held in our archive and are available to buy; the charts mark that period. Growth on this page is calculated only between counts taken the same way, so the first full quarter of comparable growth shown here is Q4 2026.

MoAfrika's lead is unusually large because its page covers both radio and television under one brand, which is noted so the comparison stays honest.
Why this indicator matters
Radio is still the medium that reaches most of Lesotho, but no audited listenership survey is published, so stations cannot be compared on audience size. A station's social following is the most consistent public signal of its reach beyond the airwaves, and it can be checked by anyone, on any day.
For advertisers it shows which stations can carry a campaign online as well as on air. For government and NGOs it shows which stations can spread public information fastest. For stations it is a benchmark against competitors. Growth over time matters more than any single count: a station adding followers steadily is building a loyal audience around its programmes and presenters.
What it does not measure
Followers are not listeners. Many listeners never follow a station online, especially outside Maseru and other towns, and many followers rarely tune in.
Some pages combine radio and television under one brand, which lifts their total above a radio-only comparison. This is noted where it applies.
It does not measure engagement, trust or accuracy.
Audiences overlap. One person can follow several pages, so combined totals overstate the number of distinct people.
Counts can be lifted by paid promotion, giveaways or page mergers, and they include inactive accounts.
Platforms round large counts, for example 236K, so small differences between titles are within rounding.
Methodology and data availability
Each month a Data Matrix researcher records the follower count shown on every station's public Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X and Instagram page, with the date it was read. The quarterly ranking uses the last Facebook count in the quarter and is checked by an editor before it is published. Data Matrix has published these counts since 13 October 2023. Counts from October 2023 to September 2026 are held in the Data Matrix archive and are available to buy. A few points in that period come from dated public copies of the pages held by the Wayback Machine.
Follower counts are never back-cast or modelled. Growth is calculated only between counts taken the same way, and never against the compiled Q3 2026 figures. See the research methodology for the meaning of each label.
Common questions
Which radio station has the most followers in Lesotho?
MoAfrika FM has the largest Facebook following, about 617,000 followers in the October 2026 count.
How is this ranking measured?
By Facebook followers, the most used platform in Lesotho. TikTok, YouTube, X and Instagram followers are recorded alongside. Counts are taken from each public page every month and the ranking is published each quarter from the last count in the quarter.
Where is the data from before October 2026?
Data Matrix first published these counts on 13 October 2023. The counts from October 2023 to September 2026 are held in our archive and can be bought by emailing our research team.
Why is a station I listen to not ranked?
A station is ranked only once its official Facebook page has been confirmed and counted in the quarter. Stations still being confirmed are listed in the counts table without a rank.
